Original PDS prevails

Each gist. page is a plain-English derivative of one specific, dated version of an insurer's Product Disclosure Statement. In the event of any difference between our summary and the insurer's PDS, the insurer's PDS prevails. The version date and SHA-256 hash of the source PDF are shown on every page.

Independence

We don't receive affiliate commissions, referral fees, sponsorship, or paid placement from any insurer we cover. We don't rank, score, or call any product the "best" or "worst". The same baseline analysis is published publicly for every insurer we cover. If we ever enter a commercial engagement with an insurer, that fact is disclosed on the relevant insurer's page and on this page.

Copyright and quotations

We don't republish PDS documents themselves — only plain-English derivative summaries with links to the original. Where a short verbatim quotation is necessary for the accurate explanation of a clause, it is clearly marked and limited to what is required.

Take-down and corrections

If you're an insurer and you believe a gist. page misrepresents your document, please tell us. We respond within five business days. Default is to correct first and discuss second.

Privacy

You don't need an account to read translations. The chatbot logs the question itself (so we can identify clauses that confuse customers) but does not collect identifying information. Your IP address is not retained beyond what is required to operate the site. We don't run advertising trackers.

Jurisdiction

gist. publishes content about Australian insurance products. Nothing on this site should be relied on for products outside Australia.
